Our Three Castle Tour on the Isle of Skye

Skye Minibus Tours are now offering a full day ‘Three Castle Tour’. The minibus will leave Portree Square at 9am and return around 5.30pm. First it will head for the most photographed castle in Britain, Eilean Donan , the chosen location for so many films over the years, and the seat of the Clan MacRae. The Castle sits in a stunning setting at the junction of three sea lochs, Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh.

From here, the minibus travels back over the Skye Bridge to visit ‘the garden of Skye’, the Sleat Peninsula, where we find the Clan Donald Centre. Here you can see the Ruins of Armadale Castle, formally inhabited by the chief’s of the Macdonald’s. Within the gardens there is a splendid museum and library. After a wander in the beautifully set gardens, you might choose to have lunch in the centre’s Stables Restaurant.

After lunch, the minibus will travel back, past the Red and the Black Cuillins towards the ancient seat of the Clan MacLeod, Dunvegan Castle. Once again, the gardens are a delight and in the castle, you can see the remnants of the ancient
‘ Fairy Flag’.  Legend has it that if the Clan MacLeod carried it into battle, it would bring them good fortune. Some say it was brought back from the crusades, others that it was a gift from the fairy folk.

As we travel the length of the Island and beyond, there will be an opportunity to see many interesting sights en Route. Our driver will be able to give detailed information in passing and you will have many photo stops, time permitting.

If you want to soak up the atmosphere of several centuries of turbulent history, or just take in the stunning scenery, why not join us for this amazing tour.
